Born on December 9, 1945, Shatrughan came to Mumbai (then Bombay) to become an actor, after passing out from FTII, Pune. He was first recognised as an actor in Dev Anand’s Prem Pujari (1970) as the Pakistani military officer. The debutant made his mark and soon succeeded in making his presence felt in Hindi cinema with films like Gulzar’s Mere Apne.
Within no time, Sinha became the shatru (enemy) of heroes in a number of films thus donning the hat of a star-villain. He entered politics and joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and within no time was the leading light of the party and its champion campaigner. But Shatru never lost his touch with talent; he did films occasionally like Madhur Bhandarkar’s Aan and Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra. He’ll next be seen in Pahlaj Nihalani’s Avatar also starring Govinda.
His daughter Sonakshi Sinha has already made it big as an actor, while his twin sons, Luv and Kush are preparing themselves for Bollywood. Shatrughan has won many National Awards. In 2008, he judged the comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, and also hosted the Bhojpuri version of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on Mahuaa TV channel. We wish Shatrughan Sinha a very happy birthday and a happy life ahead!
